TEAM ZIMBABWE RIDES 105 STRONG AND RAISES OVER $48,000
AT THE ELEPHANT ROCK CYCLING FESTIVAL JUNE 1.
As a staunch member of the Zimbabwe Mission Partnership, EPC worked hard to promote the partnership's most important fundraising event of the year! All proceeds from the event will benefit the Heather Chimhoga Orphan Care Center in northeastern Zimbabwe, where the organization is now feeding more than 1,000 children every day!
The Elephant Rock event, which takes place every year in Castle Rock, Colorado, is one of the state's premier cycling events. The weather was sensational and team riders not only had a great time, they helped children who have nobody else to help them.
As of Monday, June 2, donations from riders and supporters reached $48,000 and were still coming in. The top fundraiser once again was Rev. Les Avery, who single-handedly raise over $5,500 for the cause. Les is a retired pastor who, despite his age, rode the 62-mile course.
TEAM ZIMBABWE JERSEYS SELL OUT EARLY.
In addition to riding and fundraising, the team also had a booth at the Elephant Rock expo, where team jerseys, tee shirts and paraphernalia sold like hotcakes. Profits from sales has not yet been calculated but sales were brisk and this year's jerseys, which attracted a LOT of attention, were completely gone by 1:00 pm.
