Two Current Bible Studies

Sunday morning adult class putting on the character of Christ.

Throughout life we develop narratives in our minds about who God is and how things will be when we enter the kingdom of heaven. Many of these narratives don't stand up when compared to the true narratives – the ones Jesus provided.

In The Good and Beautiful Life, James Bryan Smith helps us examine our false notions about happiness and success, and replace them with the teachings of Jesus about life – the good and beautiful life – in the kingdom of God. It's a kingdom we can be a part of, not just sometime in the future but here and now.

Working our way through the Sermon on the Mount, where Jesus first began to teach about the kingdom of God, we are learning to deal with the attitudes and character flaws keeping us from entering the kingdom, And, in the process, we're becoming more like Christ.

Come find out more. The class meets every Sunday morning at 10:15 in the church office. For more information, contact Phil at

The Saturday morning men's group would like
to invite you for a walk.

If you, like Peter, want to step out in faith and experience more of the power and presence of God, come join us in our study of John Ortberg's book, If You Want to Walk on Water, You've Got to Get Out of the Boat.

In this video-guided study, we're discovering how to discern God's call, transcend fear, accept risk, manage failure and trust God. Relating the story in Matthew 14 (Peter's brief water-walking experience), Ortberg invites us to consider the incredible potential that awaits us outside our comfort zones.

We meet for one hour every Saturday morning at 7:00 am in the church office. Bring your own coffee! Afterward, we go have breakfast together at Los Volcanes. If you'd like to join us, contact Phil at
